Her Life

As told by her, my mom and me

I will add pictures and stories as often as I can and welcome stories from all her grandchildren

My grandmother was born in a covered wagon on a road in Licking, Missouri on January 12, 1912 to Susie Wilson Lampson and William Lampson. She was so small she was put in a shoe box. They didn't weigh babies back then and she didn't have a birth certificate until many years later. She and my great-grandmother and grandfather moved to Kewanee, Illinois in 1920 and then Rock Island, Illinois in 1926. She had four brothers and three sisters and they didn't really have much growing up. She married my grandpa Ernest Hall in about 1928 and my mother, her first born child was born in January 1929. She also had two more children, Russell and Bill.

This picture of her is with my mom. She was about 18 years old.

This picture of her is with my uncle Billy Wayne Hall when he was a baby. He died when he was 23.

This picture of Mary is in the 1940's.

This is my grandfather Ernest and my grandmother in 1950 in front of J.I. Case in Rock Island, Illinois. My grandfather died in 1957 so I did not really know him.

In order from left to right Ina Fuller, Norene Rice, Clarence Lampson, my grandma - Mary Hall, my great grandma - Susie Lampson - Fuller, Ada Frye and Bill Lampson. Two brothers that are not in this picture are Jack and Merlin. My grandma has outlived everyone in this picture and this was taken after Billy's funeral in August, 1957. My grandmother wrote this on the back of the picture "May God bless Billy and keep him safe for me. Till we meet again."

This is my great grandmother and grandfather Susie Wilson Lampson and William Lampson in the 1920's. William was born on July 31, 1885 and died on January 26th, 1951. Susie was born in October 12th, 1890 and died on July 25th, 1961. They were married on July 12th, 1905. I remember my graandmother feeding me Campbells beef and noodle soup when I was a little girl.
